The jobs nobody else will come out for

Most Dubai households have a running list: a door that catches, a shelf that needs mounting properly, a wardrobe that arrived flat-packed three weeks ago, a curtain track coming away from the wall. Individually none of them justifies a call-out. Collectively they never get done.

That is the gap a handyman visit fills. One technician, one appointment, and a list worked through in sequence — which is considerably cheaper than treating each item as its own job.

What we handle

  • Mounting and fixing — TVs, shelving, mirrors, artwork and curtain tracks, with anchors correct for the substrate.
  • Furniture assembly, including securing tall units to the wall.
  • Carpentry — shelving, cupboard repairs, skirting, trim and door adjustment.
  • Doors and locks — sticking doors, failed handles, hinge replacement and lock changes.
  • Sealing — bathroom and kitchen silicone, replaced properly rather than applied over failing existing beads.
  • Minor repairs — wall patching, filling and making good after other work.
  • Fixture replacement — towel rails, handles, hooks, blinds and brackets.

Why fixings fail in Dubai homes

Almost every “it fell off the wall” call traces to the same cause: an anchor chosen for the wrong material. Walls here are predominantly dense concrete or hollow block, and a plug intended for plasterboard will grip for a short time before working loose under load and vibration.

Getting it right means identifying the substrate first, drilling correctly for it, and selecting an anchor rated for the actual weight — including dynamic load, since a wall-mounted TV on an articulated arm exerts far more force than its static weight suggests.

How a handyman visit works

  1. Send the list. Photos help enormously — they let us bring the right fixings and tools rather than making a second trip.
  2. We estimate the time and confirm what is achievable in one visit.
  3. Work through in priority order, so if anything runs long the important items are already done.
  4. Clean up. Drilling concrete makes a great deal of dust, and clearing it is part of the job.

Why choose us for handyman work

For turning up for small jobs

Small jobs are genuinely uneconomic for most contractors, which is why they quietly decline them. We schedule them in batches, which makes them work for both sides.

For doing them once

Correct anchor for the substrate, correct rating for the load. The cheapest version of any fixing job is the one that does not need doing again.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

There is a minimum visit charge, because sending a technician and a van has a fixed cost regardless of how long the job takes. The practical implication is that it is worth saving several small items for one visit rather than calling separately for each — a list of eight small jobs handled in one appointment costs far less than eight individual call-outs.

Yes, and it is worth having done properly. Most walls here are dense concrete or block rather than plasterboard, which needs percussion drilling and the correct anchor for the substrate. The usual failure is a wall plug rated for the wrong material — it holds for a few weeks and then pulls out, often taking a chunk of wall and whatever was mounted on it.

Yes, including wardrobes, shelving, beds and office furniture. We also secure tall units to the wall, which most instructions mention and most people skip — it is the single most important step in a household with children.

Yes. In Dubai the usual causes are hinge settling under weight and seasonal movement in timber doors. The fix is usually adjustment or rehanging rather than replacement, and it is a short job when caught early. Doors left to bind eventually damage the frame, which turns a small repair into a larger one.

Anything requiring specialist certification or structural change — main electrical supply work, gas, refrigerant handling, and anything affecting load-bearing structure. Where a job crosses that line we say so and route it to the right team rather than attempting it. We would rather tell you than improvise.

We carry standard fixings, anchors, sealants and common hardware. For specific items — a particular lock, a fitting you have chosen, a tile to match existing — either you supply them or we source them and include the cost in the quote, agreed before purchase.
